Building Leadership Through Nonviolent Direct Action

Building Leadership Through Nonviolent Direct Action

Dates: May 19th, June 2nd, June 9th | Time: 6:30–8:30 PM | Virtual

Join the Pennsylvania Poor People's Campaign for a three-part course designed to demystify nonviolent direct action (NVDA) and build more leaders within our movement. This course will provide you with the tools to engage in effective, nonviolent action in order to build people power across all lines of division, and force concessions from the ruling class. Whether you're new to NVDA or looking to deepen your understanding, this course will equip you with the necessary skills and mindset to take meaningful action.

Course Goals:

- Demystify the Arrest Process: Gain an understanding of what to expect and how to navigate the legal aspects of NVDA.

- Understand Nonviolence: Define nonviolence and explore why it is an effective, strategic tactic.

- Build Leadership: Develop skills and comfort in NVDA and prepare to take on leadership roles within your organization.

- Messaging and Narrative: Learn how to craft compelling messages and narratives for NVDA campaigns.

- Historical Examples & Real-World Experiences: Learn from past victories and the experiences of other organizers, including examples from the PA PPC

- Spiritual and Mental Preparation: Discuss how to prepare mentally and spiritually for the grueling work of nonviolence, including the concept of "spiritual armor."

All sessions will be recorded. Please register to receive zoom information!
