A course on Nonviolent Direct Action WEEK 3

Join us for an in-depth, 5-week course on nonviolent direct action!

MarchOnHarrisburg has conducted over 40 nonviolent direct actions over the last seven years to advance our pro-democracy, anti-corruption bills. We have a highly successful track record of using nonviolent direct actions to push politicians to do what they would rather not do: Work to make their own corruption illegal.

This course will help you become:

  • Clear about why nonviolent direct action is necessary and effective.

  • Capable of participating in and planning a nonviolent direct action.

  • Confident enough to force the encounter with the forces of corruption and struggle for democracy.

  • Committed to engaging in nonviolent struggle and being a leader in ongoing, statewide nonviolent pro-democracy campaigns.

This course meets on Mondays from 7:00 - 8:30pm on 4/8, 4/15, 4/29, 5/6, 5/13.

Southeastern Chapter Meeting

Southeastern Monthly Chapter Meeting

Join our Southeastern Chapter for their regularly scheduled monthly meeting! RSVP to receive zoom information.

What do our regional chapters do? Here are some of the many things we work on:

  • Local Lobbying: Our regional chapters are encouraged to regularly meet with legislators in their regions at their district offices and discuss our campaigns!

  • Political Education + Trainings: Political education is integral towards our movement, and we are always continuing education at MarchOnHarrisburg. Regional chapters organize (and attend!) educational trainings such as: Ranked Choice Voting presentations, Civics 101, Lobbying 101, and more!

  • Writing Letters to the Editor: Flooding local papers as part of a statewide LTE drive is a vital way to inform the public and influence decision makers!

  • Hosting + organizing local events: In order for us to build up the Democracy movement, we need to be out in the community raising awareness of our issues and of our path to winning. Regional chapters flyer, table, billboard, and do other base-building initiatives to support the movement.

SHUT SHAPIRO DOWN: STOP TAKING BRIBES FROM CLIMATE CRIMINALS!

Last October at the Pennsylvania Climate Convergence, we went to Governor Shapiro's office with a clear demand: stop taking bribes from climate criminals who are killing our planet. Yet Shapiro was nowhere to be found - and his office doors were closed.

Despite having been invited for weeks, Shapiro was a no-show to the Climate Convergence. He had enough time to go to New Hampshire to audition for President...but not hang out long enough in Harrisburg to meet with Pennsylvania residents affected by fracking & effects of climate change.

This March, we're coming back to Shapiro's office with the same exact demand: STOP TAKING BRIBES FROM CLIMATE CRIMINALS!

RSVP to learn more about our action and how you can participate.

Poor Peoples Campaign Mass Mobilization in Harrisburg

March 2nd: Poor Peoples Campaign Mass Mobilization in Harrisburg

On Saturday March 2nd the Poor People’s Campaign will hold simultaneous mass poor people’s and low wage worker statehouse assemblies at State Capitals across the country in more than 30 states including here in Pennsylvania.

  • 800 people are dying from poverty every day in the U.S. Poverty is the 4th leading cause of deathin the U.S.

  • This is part of an arc of activity between now and the election that leads up to it and contains the following parts:

    • Monday February 5th - meeting with state elected leadership of both parties to announce 40 weeks of action leading to the election.
