March to Ban Bribery: Reading to Harrisburg
Pennsylvania communities are struggling. Groceries, rent, childcare, and utilities keep getting more expensive, but our paychecks barely budge.
In one of the most corrupt states in the country, working people struggle to afford a decent life, while billionaires are amassing more wealth than ever and bribing our politicians with lavish gifts, cutting massive checks to their campaigns, and spending billions on secret Super PAC ads.
We are marching on Harrisburg to demand PA lawmakers stop billionaire bribes, and pass a Gift Ban! We are marching to say enough is enough! Corporations are NOT people! And Money is NOT speech! We are tired of corruption and corporate greed, and we’re taking power back into our own hands! We are marching on Harrisburg so we can have healthcare as a human right, a livable wage, affordable housing, a liveable environment, safety, dignity, hope, and so much more. We refuse to allow corruption to continue being a barrier to justice, and a barrier to getting the things we all need to survive and thrive!
Nobody in power will save us. Only we can save ourselves!
Join us for the entire march - or just one hour or just one day. And join us at the end of the march, on Monday, May 4th in the State Capitol, where we will wage nonviolent direct action and disrupt the legislative guardians of corruption.
***Can't walk much? Can't risk arrest? NO PROBLEM! There are all kinds of tasks that need to be done each day to keep a march running. For those who can't march or risk arrest, we need drivers, cooks, medics, photographers, videographers, and all kinds of other help! Please note on your RSVP how you want to participate.
Housing and all meals are provided from Wednesday evening April 29th - Monday, May 4th.
Each day, we march for approximately 12-15 miles (with snacks, lunch, and bathroom breaks).
Vehicle support is provided to protect the march and provide breaks for marchers if needed.
We will send out a comprehensive email to all RSVP's with all other details: march route, parking and transportation to and from the march, events during the march, and a packing list.
Once you sign up, our march planning team will contact you via email, and also 1:1 via text. We ask that you be respectful of the hard work and time of our members: please be responsive when they are contacting you.

On Wednesday, 2/18 at 6:30pm, we’ll gather at Arooga's on the Carlisle Pike to eat wings, rank our favorite wing sauces, and learn how Ranked Choice Voting works by actually doing it. This is a relaxed, come-as-you-are event... perfect if you’re brand new to RCV or just want to meet people who care about making our democracy work better!
Please note that everyone will get a pre-selected basket of 10 original wings with various sauces to rank as part of this event, and the cost of the wings ($14.99) will be included in your bill.

PA Democracy Collaborative Workshops and Capitol Day
February 1: Workshops will include: Power Mapping, Legislative Dysfunction, Redistricting, Money in Politics, Base-building / Organizing, and Talking with Legislators.
February 2: Press conference at 11 AM in the rotunda, meetings with legislators, info tables in the main rotunda and other possible activities to raise awareness of pro-democracy reforms and PA legislative dysfunction.

The People’s Lobby: How to Meet With Your Legislators
Join us for a full-day, hands-on Advocacy Training in Harrisburg where we’ll learn how to meet with our legislators and demand action on popular, common-sense reforms like the Gift Ban, Ranked Choice Voting, and more.
We’ll break down how Harrisburg really works, walk through what a legislative meeting looks like, and practice how to tell our corruption-connection stories!!
You’ll leave ready to speak confidently with your elected officials and push for the democracy we all deserve. We deserve to meet with our legislators. If we don’t, the only voices they’ll hear are the lobbyists!
